S.A.L. News

Hello fellow SAL member,

My name is Tim Calkins, your new Adjutant, I take care of membership.  I’m writing to let you know about the Post 1207 membership dinner on October 19th 5pm until 7pm. This dinner is free when you pay your 2025 membership dues. You will receive your 2025 card on this day as well. If you are unable to make the dinner, you may come into the post at anytime and pay your dues with the bartender. Make sure you get a receipt. It is necessary for our records.

In other news we will be hosting the Bears vs Packer party on November 17th at noon. We will be serving brats and hot dogs.  There will be sound for the game and maybe a raffle or two.

We have our monthly meeting every 2nd Wednesday at 7 pm. Stop in and meet your board members : Scott Dabson: SAL Commander, John Powers Jr. : 1st Vice Commander, Jim Anderson 2nd Vice Commander,  Doug Castro : Finance Officer  and Ed Ure: Sargent at Arms. We welcome your ideas, insights and we are always looking for volunteers for events.

Another way of keeping up with post events is Post1207.com

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you.

2nd Annual Pre-Labor Day Dart Tournament

The Post was privileged to host Low Ton Darts and AE Entertainment’s 2nd Annual Pre-Labor Day Dart Tournament. And did they bring excitement and a wonderful group of people? You know they did. A few pictures don’t do it justice, but here’s a few anyway.

Thank you also to our wonderful staff. Tammy, Lynn, the cleaning crew, and our bartenders and volunteers worked their butts off to pull this off. Thanks also to TNT and the kitchen crew for some seriously good tasting food.

2nd Annual Pre-Labor Day Dart Tournament

Sunday, September 1st will be the 2nd Annual Pre-Labor Day Dart Tounament sponsored by Accel Entertainment and Low Ton Darts at our American Legion Post. This promises to be a day of great entertainment, great darts, and great prizes.

In addition, our very own Tim Calkins, Adjutant for the Sons of the American Legion, has agreed to provide food for the event. Don’t let the low prices for his food fool you, Tim’s an awesome chef.

See you at the Post!

Scholarship Chicken Dinner

Tonight is a Scholarship Chicken Dinner instead of Burger Night because John Jr and Amy are on their honeymoon and won’t be doing Burger Night. Two pieces of chicken for $10, three for $12 along with mashed potatoes, green beans and more. Proceeds will help us pay for the up to five scholarships we give to the relatives of our members each year.

Your Post will be sharing a booth at the Winnebago County Fair this week. Please stop by and consider pitching in.

Congratulations Women’s Softball

Okema, our newest bartender and member of our Women’s Softball team dropped by to show us their trophy. They earned 2nd Place for State out of “about 10” teams and for National out of “about 30” teams.

Quick reminder, August 24th will be a fundraiser for both our men’s and women’s softball teams at the Post. We’re having a Drawdown Dinner and raffle with a $1000 top prize. Drawdown raffles are popular and a lot of fun.
